With Apple all-but-confirmed to be releasing a
trio of new iPhones this September, this week
we decided to take a closer look at the latest
rumors and leaks, go hands-on with a dummy
model, and consider what the future holds for
the world’s most iconic smartphone...


THREE ALL-NEW iPHONES


As reported by the Wall Street Journal, Apple is
expected to drop a trio of new iPhones this
year, in the same vein as the iPhone XS, XS Max,
and XR, two with an OLED display and one with
an LCD variant to lower costs.


The high-end models are expected to feature an
impressive new triple-lens camera system, whilst
the iPhone XR successor will feature a new
dual-camera system for the first time. Although
major design changes are not expected, analysts
have predicted some exciting internal and
external changes to push iPhone into the next
generation and pique the interest of consumers
who’ve been slow to upgrade their phones,
keeping older devices for longer.


But before we delve into those changes, a quick
word on naming. We won’t know for sure what
the iPhone XS, XS Max, and XR successors will
be called until Tim Cook and Co hit the stage
in early September, but there are a couple of
rumors so far. Following Apple’s traditional
biennial naming (numbered release, S release),
one would assume that the next iPhone will
be called the iPhone 11, but as this year will be
considered more of an S release with smaller
changes, some have suggested models will
sport XI and XRI, or even XT names. Apple
