How did you feel walking
into MIC series 17?
It was rather daunting, to
be honest, because I just
didn’t know what to expect
going on to such a successful
TV show. I hope I made a
good impression. I’m told
I handled it well!
Did you find any of the
situations tough?
Meeting some of the older cast
members was quite difficult,
but what was most important
for me was organising my
wardrobe – so there was a
lot of dry-cleaning of suits
in the first few weeks. I was
determined to look my best!
You struck up a friendship
with Mark-Francis Vandelli
early on, didn’t you?
Mark is a very charming man.
I think we share a love of
the arts and fashion. We
have a lot in common,
and Mark couldn’t wait
to give me some advice,
which of course I took. I
suppose he sees me as an
apprentice on the show.
Were you always a fan
of Made In Chelsea?
I have a bit of a confession
to make. When HMV was
shutting down, I went and
bought the box set of MIC
and binge-watched the whole
lot! I loved it, so in this bizarre
way, I’ve followed my dream
and ended up on the show.
How weird is that?
How did your family react
when they heard you were
joining the show?
I’m very lucky, in the sense
that my parents have always
been very supportive of
anything I wanted to do. So,
this wasn’t too shocking for
them. But I know that they
sit down on Monday nights at
9pm with a pizza, waiting to
see my scenes on the show.
Had you met any of the
cast previously?
Yes, I knew Sam Thompson
because we went to school
together, and I had met
Georgia Toffolo a few times
- I always had a big crush
on her, so it’s a bit of a
shame she’s no longer
on the show, really!
We all wish that some
of the old boys and
girls would come
back. So, if Georgia
is reading this, I hope
she’ll think about it.
But the show continues
to evolve, so people will
come and go.
Has it already changed
your life?
Yes! I don’t have to queue for
nightclubs any more, which
is a bit of a bonus. Also, I get
recognised on the street. But
what I didn’t expect was to get
emails every day, asking me to
record birthday messages for
people I don’t know.
Why do you think
people continue
to love MIC?
I think we are all
interesting characters
that get into unique
situations! At the end
of the day, it’s a reality
TV show and I suppose
people like watching the
relationships develop and
want to see what happens.
It’s all about the drama.
And the comedy – laughter
is so important!
What do you think about
Jamie Laing going on
Strictly Come Dancing?
I didn’t even know that. Well,
he’s good on the rugby field,
but whether that translates
to the dance floor I’m not
too sure. But I wish him
well and hope he wins.
Can we expect the cast
to go on a trip during
the new series?
That’s always very exciting
- we’ll have to see. I haven’t
quite worked this out yet, but
when we go away the dynamics
F
reddie Browne
is one of seven
newbies who
joined the cast of
Made In Chelsea
earlier this year.
He’s already proving
a big hit with the
girls, too! The proud
Chelsea boy, 26, admits
he adores a party,
loves vintage motors
and has already been
getting advice on
manners from show
veteran Mark-Francis
Vandelli.
Here, he opens up
about what we can
expect from the new
series, how the show
has changed his life
and why he may not
be looking for love
just yet...
