nstilling a new house with Old-World character begins
with a gracious scale, engaging proportions, and a gentle
placement within the landscape. With that goal in mind,
Lori and Chris Sholota worked closely with Atlanta
architect Tim Adams every step of the way while building
their Georgia home.
“We knew what we wanted,” says Lori. “From the first meeting
with Tim, it was obvious he was eager to design a house tailored to
our interests and lifestyle.” The couple loves to travel to the wine

regions of Napa and Italy, so the architectural inspiration flowed
naturally. Reflecting classic Mediterranean influences, the house
captures the spirit of the Sholota’s favorite destinations—places
known for relaxed sophistication and la dolce vita (the good life).
The three-story home is comprised of distinct wings with assorted
gables and varied roof lines, diminishing the apparent mass of the
structure and creating the illusion of a storybook villa nestled within
the natural slope of the land. Inside and out, the home exhibits a
patina beyond its age thanks to honest natural and meticulous

In the kitchen, a series of barrel
vaults crafted of vintage brick
and wooden beams animate
the ceiling, while countertops
and backsplash of Perlatino
quartzite offer sleek and
contemporary touches.
