craftsmanship. Stone walls, deeply inset windows, rustic
wooden shutters and exposed trusses, gentle archways, and
terra-cotta roof tiles nod to the Mediterranean spirit. Along
the back of the house, the motifs and materials take a more
contemporary turn with expansive windows, a stone pool
terrace, and covered porches designed for a family who
loves the outdoors.
The home sits on a corner lot that affords the pool
and loggias privacy, while along the street its formal entry
procession unfolds gradually. “The tower is the prominent
central volume,” says Adams. “The porte cochere and
courtyard establish the additive nature of the architecture
and offer visual cues on how to navigate.” The front door is
discreetly set within the courtyard, where the soothing
sounds of water spilling into an antique stone fountain
suggests good things to come.
The stairway climbing up the tower and the dining room
with an adjoining wine cellar are the focal points of this home,

taining and culinary exploits, as well as the family’s relaxed
