Thereisa lotofconstructionhere:a carportandstore,a

terraceandpool.Theskillofthedesignersisparticularly

evidentinthefactthatthesiteappearstohavebeen

deconstructedtoreveala pre-suburbanlandscape.

Thegardeniswildandriverrocksreplacethe

typicaltimberdeck,turflawnorhardpaving.Thestreet

benefitsfromthiscleverlycraftedinsertionoftheruin/

carporthybrid.Therearprivateswimmingpoolholds

theslopingsiteanddealswithAustralianpoolfence

regulationsina firmandcreativeway.Thedecorative

concreteblockpoolwallevokesmemoriesofWalter

BurleyGriffinandthenaturalworldandalsoreads

asaneffectivedatumtocontemplatethelongviews

tothesurroundinghills.Thisisa poetic solutionto

the Aussie suburban “must haves.”
