The simple controls for the heater, lights and wipers are
located to the left of the steering column. (Right) The
small 215-cid V-8 was no powerhouse and produced a
modest 155 hp, but it is still plenty to propel the compact
Special. Like the rest of the car, the engine bay is
immaculate.


Many smaller bits, interior pieces and chrome
goodies were transplanted from a donor car —
including the cool dash-mounted clock.

There wasn't
a ton of trim
pieces on the
1961 Specials.
Styling on the
downsized
Buicks was on
the conserva-
tive side, but in
keeping with
the times.
