ith many coveted
laurels already
ticked off, new
achievements on the
cards, and a bunch of firsts in the
offing, Katrina Kaif seems to be on
an ‘onwards and upwards’ trajectory
in the real sense of the phrase. An
established ‘bankable star’, all of her
last four films crossed the `100-crore
mark globally. She will next be
seen in Rohit Shetty’s Sooryavanshi
opposite Akshay Kumar—the teaser
has already received one million views
on Instagram in just a fortnight of its
release. But that’s in 2020. Before
that, as we find out, there’s a whole lot
lined up! Starting with her new role
as the brand ambassador of Reebok
India. Talking to Cosmopolitan India
on her latest stint, the actor also lets
us in on the beauty venture she is
going to be part of, the production
house she plans to launch, the holiday
she wants to take...and more. A few
hearty laughs, many fitness tips, some
beauty hacks, and a ‘motto to live life
by’ later, it is safe to say: Ms Kaif is on
a roll.

Cosmo: Tell us about your
collaboration with Reebok India...
Katrina Kaif: “Reebok India
embodies a lot of beliefs that I stick
by, too. Fitness, through yoga, dance,
and other physical activities, is a
big part of my life. This was a good
chance to team up with a brand that
has a similar vision as me, and that
also offers me a platform to open
up conversations about women’s
bodies, fitness, the training we need
at different times of our lives, and so
much more.”

C: So, what is your fitness routine
like, typically?
KK: “There’s no set routine, really—
it keeps changing according to the
target I’ve set for myself at that
particular time. But the primary
deciding factor for it is always my
films. Like, for Bharat, my character
needed a very natural-looking
physique, not someone who goes to

the gym. So, I switched to pilates and
yoga. Otherwise, when not training
for a goal, I like to take it easy, relax,
and not push my body too much. If I
have any stage shows or photoshoots
in the middle, I touch base again
with functional training, weights,
plyometric exercises, etc. But, if left
to my own devices, I’d only swim. I
love swimming!”

C: What are you most excited
about in life RN?
KK: “Professionally, I’m in a good
space—very happy with the way
things are going. The reviews I’ve
got for my last two films [Zero and
Bharat] have got me even more
pumped, and I can’t wait to get my
hands on another great character
that I can bring to life on screen, as a
performer, an artiste.
I’m also thrilled about some content
that I have been working on with
Reebok India.
Plus, I’m excited about my beauty
line, which I’ll be launching soon. It’s
keeping me very busy. It’s something
that feels personal to me and I really
believe in...and a lot of women will be
able to relate to.”

C: And personally?
KK: “A holiday with all my sisters!
I miss them so much! As a person,
I’m extremely driven and like to
keep myself busy with work, but it’s
important to get away from it once
in a while. Luckily, all of us managed
to get time off together. Normally,
it’s very tough to coordinate because
we’re all working. We haven’t decided
the destination yet, but it’ll be
somewhere hot and beachy for sure.”

C: What’s on top of your bucket
list at the moment?

KK: “To launch my beauty line! I also
want to produce a movie this year.”

C: Talking about beauty, if you
could only use three products
forever, what would they be?
KK: “Sunscreen—I don’t step out
without it. Lip balm—an absolute
must. And eye cream—I always need
it before I put any make-up on.”

C: Any beauty hack that you
swear by...
KK: “Ice! Wrap it in a mulmul cloth
and rub it on your face before you
apply make-up. It’ll calm your skin
down, and the make-up will sit
better.”

C: You’re on Instagram now.
How’s that going? Do you read
the comments on your posts?
KK: “I don’t read comments...
like at all! And I spend very
limited time on it, only what’s
absolutely necessary—choosing the
photograph(s), captions—about 15
minutes. Sometimes, I like to see
what my friends are up to, but even
then, it’s controlled. And I like to keep
my content in real time—I don’t like
posting stuff that’s old. For me, it’s
a platform to share what I like, not
a place to be competitive, for Likes,
Followers, and all.”

C: Is there a motto you live by?
KK: “I read something interesting
recently: ‘Strive for progress, not
perfection’. It is so important! We
get so distracted trying to achieve
perfection that we don’t allow
ourselves to keep moving. You
have to keep moving forward...even
if it is slowly, you have to keep
going, in the right direction, at a
steady pace.” Q
