before being used at stud.
“I’m also riding Thistledown
El Toro this season, but he’s more
novicey than Snowy,” said Talia,
who was also the easy winner of
the Heritage junior title. “He gave
me a lovely ride today. He’s been
knocking on the door in HOYS
[Horse of the Year Show] classes.”
Home-producers Sophie
and Emma James continued
their Hickstead form when
their 12-year-old dun Glenmore
Gwennic, fresh from his supreme
victory at the breed show, topped
the open Connemara and New
Forest section with Emma. The
sisters were delighted when their
other Connemara Glencarrig
Rocco was pulled in second, with
stand-in jockey Leon King.
“Glen was the only one of team
who hadn’t won here,” said Emma.
“He’s had a number of seconds,
thirds and top pulls, but he’d
never had a blue sash of his own.
“It can be really diffi cult when
you’re home-produced to let
anyone ride your pony, but Leon
