Christmas comes 149 days

early forLondon shop

The London department storeSelfridges has opened its Christmas section 149

days before25December.The shop opens its festive sectionearly every year,

but 2019’sopening day arrived two daysearlier than last year.Selfridges says

that it is the first shop in the world to have openedadedicated Christmas

section this year.Items on sale includea£100 figurine of Santa doing yoga

(a type ofexercise) andaChristmas tree thatcosts £2,000.

Humpback whale nearlyswallows sealion

Ashocking photo hascaptured the momentahumpback whale almost ate a

sealion whole. Itwastaken on 22 July in Monterey Bay,California, in the US,

by wildlife photographer Chase Dekker.The humpback whale hunts with its

mouth open, scooping up small seacreatures as it swims. Sealions, which

weigh around 180 kilograms, areusually able to avoid them. On this occasion,

the sealion didn’t move quickly enough. Luckily,the humpback whale’sthroat

is quite narrow,sot he sealion wasable to escape. Dekker said the photo is the

first ever to showahumpback whale nearly swallowing an entiresea lion.
