SCHIAPARELLI

When designing for a couture house with such a sense of
history and aesthetic, it’s hard to step away from that identity.
For designer Marco Zanini, Schiaparelli’s heritage was still very
much apparent in his collection with costume-like creations,
sculpted silhouettes and quirky headpieces taking centre stage.

When Jennifer Lopez is sitting pretty in the front
row of a show, you know the mood of the
collection is set for super-sexy, performance-
worthy pieces. Enter Donatella Versace’s tried and
tested formula of second skin dresses, thigh-high
slits and full on Italian glamour. Decadence ruled
the day at Versace with rich furs, jewel-drenched
details, fringing and luxe leathers.

ELIE SAAB

Lebanese designer Elie Saab is no stranger to creating the
perfect Oscar-winning dress. He is loved by Hollywood’s
A-List, as well as the Middle East’s discerning fashionistas,
for creating show-stopping gowns. This season he stuck to
his well-loved formula of creating looks that every actress
will be queuing up to wear come awards season. Dresses
were embroidered, appliquéd, fl oor length and dripping with
sequins. There was, of course, a bride to close the show,
captivating in a breathtaking, voluminous lace ensemble.

Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren, the duo behind
Viktor & Rolf, took red carpet dressing literally and
created a collection made out of the famous fabric.
Appearing in different guises, the red ensembles
were moulded into wraps and tied neatly in bows
showing that even the most rigid of materials
could be coerced when in the hands of experts.
Red carpet dressing for the red carpet – genius.
