VOIIO M1A2 ABRAMS
12 Airfi x Model World
AMAZING ABRAMS
I
t seems there has been a
veritable feast of 1/35 Abrams
kits recently, and now there’s
a new company from China,
VOIIO, offering a further example
for military modellers to savour.
As seen in the accompanying
photos, the firm has set a high bar
for its 1/35 M1A2 V2 SEP Abrams
(01101), which comprises 11 styrene
runners, a separate one-piece
lower hull, rubber-band-style vinyl
tracks and a photo-etched metal
fret. Attention to detail is the
watchword here, with features such
as vehicle casting marks replicated
in the styrene, along with anti-slip
surfaces on the upper hull and
turret. Latches, hinges and bolts
are rendered crisply, plus grab/
lifting handles, and embossed
labels on the water containers.
Arguably, the highlight is the main
sighting system, moulded integrally
with the upper turret half —
previously this would have required
two or more separate parts.
Similar refinement is apparent in
the remote weapon station.
cal machine gun, with convincing
cooling holes in the barrel jacket,
plus well-defined cocking handle
and charging cover. The vinyl
tracks benefit from an absence
of flash and minimal ejection pin
marks, and feature track-link pins
and guide horns.
Markings are provided for nine
vehicles, one overall NATO Green,
two Desert Yellow and six in
standard three-tone NATO Green/
