I

’ve always found modelling a
relaxing hobby except when a
magazine deadline is looming.
Nonetheless, beyond the
benefit it brings military veterans

recovering from physical injuries,
I hadn’t realised just how much
it’s used in mental health therapy.
Most organisations supporting
such rehabilitation are
charity-based, but their work
is incredible, and all involved
hugely appreciate any donations
of kits, paints and equipment.
Models and accessories help
patients improve their fine-
motor control, allowing them to
express their illnesses through
group workshops within a safe
and supervised environment.
Hearing of this has made me
appreciate just how therapeutic
our hobby can be.
This month is a bumper issue,
with 132 pages for the same price

as a regular magazine which
allows even more features and
reviews on which to feast your
eyes during the summer holidays.
Three newly tooled kits are
previewed; Airfix’s 1/72 MiG-
Fresco, Das Werk’s 1/35 Rutscher
tank hunter and the 1/35 M1A
SEP V2 from VOIIO.
The lead build is Airfix’s 1/
re-worked Mitchell and is
joined by a 1/48 Canberra T.17a
conversion. Tamiya’s Mercedes-
AMG GT3 receives a ‘Battlefield
1’ livery, and there’s ICM’s 1/
WOT6 truck and OKB Grigorov’s
1/72 M24 Chaffee for military
modellers. I’m pleased to have
Arma Hobby’s Hurricane in the
magazine for those wanting an

out-of-the-box build, and there’ll
be more in that vein in future
issues. There’s a touch of US Air
Force history in the form of an
RAF King’s Cliffe P-38 Lightning,
using Hasegawa’s 1/48 kit,
and this is accompanied by
an informative account of the
type’s operations with the 20th
Fighter Group.
So, for whatever reason you’ve
taken up the hobby, I hope you
enjoy this extra value-for-money
issue. Happy Modelling!
