erman HTP Motorsport
has been part of Mercedes-
AMG’s Motorsport customer
racing programme since
2011 and was formerly known as
HEICO Motorsport.
The team competes in several
international race series
including the Blancpain sprint
and endurance series, one race
of which (the Spa 24 hours)
is among the most fiercely
contested and prestigious.
For the 2017 race, held on
July 29 and 30 at the Belgian
Francorchamps Circuit, HTPentered three cars: #48, #84 and
#85. The subject of this feature
is car #84, driven by Swede
Jimmy Eriksson, Frenchman
Franck Perera and German
Maximilian Buhk – the latter
won the race in his debut 2012
season, so hopes were high for a
repeat performance. During the
initial stages, car #84 featured
in the top ten, climbing to fourth
initially, but unfortunately had a
race-ending collision on lap 142,
after six hours and ten minutes.
Car #48 also did not finish, but
#85 was placed seventh overallcompleting 545 laps, one less
than the winning Audi R8 LMS.
The primary reason for
selecting car #84 was its
incredible Battlefield 1 copper-
orange racing livery, based
on sponsor Electronic Arts’
first-person shooter of the
same name, which was one
of the biggest selling games
in late 2016. Also, the game
trailer’s soundtrack featured
the White Stripes song Seven
Nation Army, which was played
in the background to further
inspire progress throughoutMODELSPEC
