2 a.m. on Sunday, March 8.
There are arguments for and
against the use of daylight time.
However, given the widespread
use of bright artificial light
from sunset to sunrise, I think
most of these arguments have
been rendered academic. Those
in Saskatchewan and elsewhere
that do not use daylight time
seem to be doing fine without it.
The second major event
for March is the spring
equinox (equal day and night).
The official end of winter
is at 23:50 on Thursday, March
- It seems earlier than last
year, but this is a consequence
of adding that extra day
to February.
The evenings have been
getting brighter, and this
will continue with sunset
progressing from 5:51 p.m.
(standard time) to 7:30 p.m.
