ISSUE 178 RACING AHEAD 11
looking filly and would have won this
under a slightly more urgent ride from
Dane O’Neill. She cost 580,000gns, is
half-sister to a Classic winner and rates
a smart prospect.

SMART FORM
ENCAPSULATION (Andrew Balding)
had smart form over further on easy
ground in Ireland and looked in good
shape on this debut for the Balding
yard. She looked lost when the pace
quickened, but finished best of all to
nab second and will be a different
proposition back over 1m2f. There’s a
big race in her.

RUN-OF-THE-MILL RACE
DREAMWEAVER (Ed Walker) is a
stocky gelding and has done well
physically since winning at Goodwood
in May. He looked ill at ease on the
quick ground, but rattled home in
second and really should have won.
This will have put an edge on him and,
granted a drop of rain, he’ll be back in
business soon.
WINDSOR July 8 (good-firm)
6f handicap (Class 6)
MODEST FORM
PRINCESS KEIRA (Mick Quinn)
looked in great nick but was ham-
pered when attempting to launch a
challenge. She shaped much better
than her finishing position (seventh)
suggests and is clearly in the form of
her life. A mark of 64 is fair and she
will win again.

slow)

DECENT RACE FOR THE GRADE
MOTAWAJ (Roger Varian) was fitter
than on his reappearance at Notting-
ham and ran out an impressive winner
once David Egan got him rolling down
the outside. The jockey confirmed he’ll
improve again when moved up to
1m2f and he’s one to follow closely
through the remainder of the cam-
paign.
1m three-year-old handicap (Class 5)
IMPRESSIVE WINNER
EDARAAT (Roger Varian) outclassed
these in the paddock and performed a
minor miracle to win after hanging
violently left in the closing stages.
That waywardness can be put down
to inexperience rather than tempera-
ment and he’s way ahead of the
handicapper at present.
6f two-year-old fillies’ novice (Class
4)
ABOVE AVERAGE EVENT
CLEGANE (Ed Walker) is an attractive
filly from a tough family and ran a
cracker to finish sixth after missing the
kick. Her yard is flying and with
improvement guaranteed – particular-
ly over 7f - she will win a race or two.
1m3f handicap (Class 4)
WEAK RACE FOR THE GRADE
WALTER WHITE (Alan King) won in
France but looked in need of the
outing on this return from a 363-
