Letter of the Month

Tissue in hand and blanket covering my head, I was silently weeping amidst

the chattering people in the plane. My heart broke into a million pieces

again as I recalled the sad scene at the airport. I was a student and I had just

finished my semester break. Somehow during the holiday, my family and I

had gotten closer and it was extra difficult for me to say goodbye. But it was

time for me to head back to the U.K. I quickly wiped my tears and decided to

go to the toilet to blow my nose. As I stood waiting for the sign to indicate

it was vacant, a steward who was passing by suddenly stopped. "Are you

okay?" he asked gently. I told him that I was sad as I had to leave my family

again. We talked for a bit and he cracked a few jokes to lighten the mood

before it was my turn to enter the loo. When I came back, to my surprise, a

box of tissues with a packet of sweets had been placed on my tray. There was

also a note that said "Hope this will cheer you up! :)" It’s been years since that

happened, but I still remember that incident like it was just yesterday. A kind

gesture goes a long way, and I’m glad MAS has that instilled in their service.

FREIDA YUSOF Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

I flew with Malaysia Airlines to Osaka, Japan for a leisure trip a few months

back. It was quite a wonderful experience with MAS. I was impressed with the

leg room, great in-flight entertainment with some current movies, and the

in-flight meals were awesome with ice cream served on board! I still miss the

vanilla ice cream! Moreover, I didn't need to worry about baggage weight when I

packed! Thirty kilograms is more than enough for a guy like me! All these

unfortunately is something that low-cost airlines are not able to offer.

Good job, Malaysia Airlines. Will see you again really soon!

EDWYN KIM Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Malaysia Airlines has always been a part of my sweet, unforgettable

memories. When I was a child, I dreamed of flying like everyone else. I knew that

the only way to make that dream come true was by studying hard so that I

would get the chance to study abroad. At last, at the age of 20, a big milestone in

my life: I flew with Malaysia Airlines to Adelaide, Australia to pursue my degree. I

still remember how patient the stewards and stewardesses were with me while

showing me even the simplest of tasks like how to buckle and unbuckle the seat

belt, and also in keeping us calm when there was turbulence. Now that I am a

professional, I fly almost every month. Still, I get chills of pride every time I see

the Malaysia Airlines logo. Even now, with the growing number of other airlines, I

cannot leave you. Thank you, Malaysia Airlines.

ROZIMAH BINTI ABDUL LATIF Terengganu, Malaysia

Malaysia Airlines is my national airline. I am proud of you, even though over

the years, there has been so much talk about the airline. During the month of

April, I flew to three destinations – KL/Miri/KL, KL/PG/KL and KL/Guangzhou/KL. I

experienced the warm hospitality of the cabin crew, and the SMILES that welcome

you once you’re onboard the plane make you feel so welcomed. The spirit of

Malaysia Boleh, Kita Boleh and Sama-Sama Kita Boleh will move us forward to

building a happy and healthy Malaysia, thus a successful and prosperous

Malaysia Airlines. I sincerely wish the best for you. Well done and thank you to all

the cabin crew and keep up the good work.
