  1. Referring to Diagram 4, lay out
    four triangle-squares, four Square-
    in-a-Square units, and a red or
    red-orange print 4^1 ⁄ 2 " square in three
    rows. Sew together pieces in rows.
    Join rows to make Block A. The block
    should be 12^1 ⁄ 2 " square including seam
    allowances. Repeat to make three
    matching A blocks total.
    4. Using marked black print 2^1 ⁄ 2 "
    squares, marked cream or tan print
    2 1 ⁄ 2 " squares, and green or blue print
    41 ⁄ 2 " squares, repeat Assemble A Blocks,
    Step 4, to make 12 Square-in-a-Square
    units (Diagram 6).
    5. Referring to Diagram 7, lay out four
    triangle-squares, four Square-in-a-
    Square units, and a green or blue print
    41 ⁄ 2 " square in three rows. Sew together
    pieces in rows. Join rows to make
    Block B. The block should be 12^1 ⁄ 2 "
    square including seam allowances.
    Repeat to make three matching
    B blocks total.
    6. Repeat steps 1–5 to make 15 B blocks
    total (five sets of three matching
    blocks).

    A blocks total (five sets of three
    matching blocks).


ASSEMBLE B BLOCKS



  1. Gather six 4^7 ⁄ 8 " squares and
    twenty-four 2^1 ⁄ 2 " squares from one
    black print, six 4^7 ⁄ 8 " squares and
    fifteen 4^1 ⁄ 2 " squares from one green
    or blue print, and twenty-four 2^1 ⁄ 2 "
    squares from one cream or tan print.

  2. Use a pencil to mark a diagonal
    line on wrong side of black print
    4 7 ⁄ 8 " and 2^1 ⁄ 2 " squares and cream or
    tan print 2^1 ⁄ 2 " squares.

  3. Using marked black print 4^7 ⁄ 8 "
    squares and green or blue print 4^7 ⁄ 8 "
    squares, repeat Assemble A Blocks,
    Step 3, to make 12 triangle-squares
    (Diagram 5).
