Th anks to its blade shape, the Shinbu

lends itself to slashing and stabbing. Th e

blade curvature converts a radial motion

into eff ective cutting. Williams designed

the Shinbu as a force option for military

personnel when fi rearms cannot be

employed. In the hands of properly

trained personnel, the Shinbu becomes a

very eff ective cutting implement.

The handle’s cord wrap is as

f u n c t i o n a l a s i t i s d e c o r a t i v e. I t c r e a t e s a

3D grip surface with alternating raised

and lowered areas. Cord-wrapped

handles do very well when your hands

are wet or cold so you can get a good

grip. The handle is comfortable.

Unlike other synthetic materials, the

cord wrap gives no harshness to the

feel. Additionally, the handle performs

excellently with gloved hands.

Th e Shinbu has great cutting power.

It’s not a slicer in the kitchen-knife

sense due to its thick blade stock and

fl at grind. However, put some power

behind the blade and it will blast its way

through. Th ink of how an axe cuts via

inertia. Th is is where the cord-wrapped

handle also excels. When you swing the

knife around, it stays securely in your

grip without the need for a lanyard.

Th is instills user confi dence.

The Shinbu rides quite securely

inside the Boltaron molded sheath,

which locks up around the guard.
