it wassoonovercome:the60sethosand
minimalspacestandardspermeatedthe
designprocessandthingsfellintoplace
- a wallremovedhere,a bayextended
there– untila planemerged.Having
workedtogetherbefore,wecollaborated
instinctivelyasthedesigndiscussion
movedintodetail,materials,colour.
JaneMacDonnell—Justin’s
visionforthestudiowascompletely
inlinewithourthinking;hisbespoke
cabinetryandattentiontodetailhas
hadatrulytransformativeeffectonthe
buildingand,inturn,ourstudioculture.
Weallfeelemotionallyinvestedand
connectedtothisplaceand it makes
turninguptoworka joy.
AM—Thenewstudiois essentially
a treehouse;theextensiveglazedwall
anddecksituatestheworkspacehigh
inthecanopyofestablishednativebush
andregularlyattractscuriousfeathered
onlookers.Thenatureofourworkis
deadline-driven– thingscangetquite
manicandstressful,sohavinga tranquil
environmentis a reallynice temper to that.
