Length of straight edge: 130cm

SPECIAL ABBREVIATIONS
kf&b = knit into the front and back of
each stitch
TENSION
16 sts x 6 rows in stocking stitch using
6mm needles after blocking.

gettiNg StaRted
It is recommended that you use a
circular knitting needle to be able to
hold all of the stitches. For a smaller
shawl without the ruffle, use 1 skein
of yarn and cast off in knit after the
3rd repeat.

WoRkiNg PatteRN
Cast on 6 stitches using long tail
t

Row 1: Kf & b, repeat for all stitches.
Row 2: Purl.
Repeat rows 1 and 2 two more times.
48 stitches after last repeat.

maiN PatteRN
Rows 7 to 10: Knit.
Rows 11 and 12: * k2tog, yo *
repeat across row (where necessary
add a k1 at end of row).
Rows 13 to 16: Knit.
Rows 17 to 23: Work 7 rows
stocking stitch starting with a
purl row.

Repeat rows 7 to 23, 4 more times.

Stitch count at the end of each repeat:
73, 109, 163, 244.

RUFFle
Work rows 7 to 16 once more.
Kf & b across row. 488 stitches.
Work 7 rows stocking stitch starting
with a purl row.

makiNg UP
Cast off in purl – this will give a little
ridge along cast off edge and will help
stop ruffle from rolling in.
