Shape Armholes
Keep pattern correct, cast off 3 (5)
sts at the beg. of next two rows.
Decrease at each end of the next 5
alternate rows (knit rows) – 10 sts
decreased 67 (71) sts.
Keeping pattern correct, knit on
remaining sts until 3 complete patterns
are finished, approx 50cm from
bottom edge.
Shape Shoulders
Keep pattern correct, cast off 8 (15)
sts at the beg of next 4 rows.
Place remaining sts on a knitting pin
and leave aside.
LEFT FRONT
Using 6 mm knitting needles, cast on
37 (47) sts.
Keep pattern correct, knit until 3
complete patterns are finished or work
measures approximately 25cm.
Shape Armholes
Keeping pattern correct, cast off 3 (5)
sts at beg of next purl row.
Decrease each alternate row 5 times
at this edge 29 (37) sts.
At the same time and keeping pattern
correct, decrease one st at the opposite
end of the armhole shaping every
4th row.
Knit until 3 complete patterns have
been worked or until garment measures
approximately 50cm from bottom edge.
Shape Shoulders
Cast off 8 (15) sts at the beg of the
next 2 rows.
Cast off remaining sts.
RIGHT FRONT
Work as for left front, only in reverse.
SLEEvES
Using 6mm knitting needles, cast on
54 sts
Keep pattern correct, increase at each
end of every 4th row until there are
64 (70) sts.
Shape Armholes
Keep pattern correct, cast off 3 (5)
sts at the beg of next 2 rows.
Decrease 1 st at each end of alternate
rows until there are 36 sts.
Cast off. Make 2.
MAKING UP
Join back seams to front using a wool
sewing needle and making a flat seam.
Join shoulder seams together of each
front to the back.
Join sleeve seams.
Ease the sleeves into the armhole
opening and sew in neatly.
FRONT BANDS AND COLLAR
Using 6mm knitting needles, cast on
evenly around the entire edge of front
opening of garment.
Stocking stitch 6 rows.
Next Row: Cast off sts to decrease
edge of the front (approximately
25cm), knit around the neck edge to
opposite side, turn.
Cast off sts to the decrease edge on
this side, approximately 25cm, turn.
Garter stitch on these remaining sts
28 rows.
Cast off loosely.
Sew in bobble or shank buttons at the
collar edge.
Make a loop with strands of yarn for
buttons to hook into on opposite sides
of the garment.
