Secret Millionaire

awarded £235k in

‘pillow talk’ battle

E

mbroiled in one
of london’s most
expensive divorces
— for which she
has retained the
services of the Prince of
Wales’s lawyer Fiona Shack-
leton — glamorous heiress
and Channel 4 ‘Secret mil-
lionaire’ Simrin Choudhrie
has had the satisfaction of
drawing first blood in a
separate legal action.
She has, i can disclose, emerged
victorious from the High Court
where her estranged husband,
multi-millionaire bhanu
Choudhrie, had initiated a so-
called ‘pillow talk’ action against

her. He was seeking to prevent
Simrin, 38, from disclosing details
about business dealings which
he had mentioned to her — and,
in particular, about a Serious
Fraud office (SFo) investigation
into his role in a rolls-royce
corruption inquiry.
Striking out bhanu’s claim —
and his attempt to alter its terms
of reference beyond the original

‘pillow talk’ details — Judge
david Hodge dismissed his
application to go to the Court of
Appeal and ordered him to pay
his estranged wife’s costs of more
than £235,000.
The SFo investigation into
alleged bribery of foreign officials
by rolls-royce representatives
is still under way.
in 2014, bhanu, 41, and his

father, billionaire businessman
Sudhir Choudhrie, who have
lavished £1.5 million on the
liberal democrats, were arrested
and questioned by the SFo, only
for the investigators to announce
that no action would be taken
against them.
in happier times, Simrin and
bhanu lived in splendour in a
£20 million belgravia townhouse
in the same square as lord and
lady lloyd-Webber.
The couple overcame local
opposition to secure planning
permission to build a cinema,
swimming pool, steam room and
sauna in its basement.
regrettably, their future
encounters seem likely to be
confined to the battleground of
the divorce court.

Thorn Birds

star tells of

her #MeToo

moment...

EIGHTIES sex symbol Rachel Ward
has revealed she was a victim of
harassment as a young model
and Hollywood actress.
‘I had my #MeToo experience,’
discloses the Thorn Birds star
(pictured in 1984 movie Against
All Odds). Now 61, she adds: ‘To
make a fuss would have been
pointless, so I was complicit —
which is worse than being help-
less. And that leads to self-loath-
ing. But it made me a feminist.’

WE KNOW that Leader of the
House Jacob Rees-Mogg is a
stickler for ‘proper’ English
grammar. Now sister Annunzi-
ata, the new Brexit Party MEP,
has expressed her horror at
uncouth types asking for ‘chips
and egg...’ and not vice versa.

■ ‘I can’t think of an example
with chips first,’ argues the
Brexiteer. ‘Steak and chips,
burger and chips, fish and
chips, sausage and chips,
chicken and chips, omelette
and chips...’ Sounds like Nigel
Farage’s new diet.
