Joe Pesci and

real-life gangsters

Check out these thrilling new
shots from star-studded gangster
drama The Irishman, directed by
Martin Scorsese and coming to
Netflix later this year.
Set in post-war America and
based on real events, it follows life
in the criminal underworld and its
connections to the political arena
through the eyes of World War
Two veteran and alleged hitman
Frank Sheeran (Robert De Niro).
Over several decades, Sheeran
encounters a range of infamous
figures and becomes embroiled in
the unsolved disappearance of his
friend, Jimmy Hoffa (Al Pacino).
Joe Pesci appears as crime
boss Russell Bufalino, while Ray
Romano, Anna Paquin, Harvey
Keitel, Stephen Graham and
Bobby Cannavale also feature.
The film, based on Charles
Brandt’s book I Heard You Paint
Houses, uses state-of-the-art
special effects to make De Niro
and his co-stars look younger as
they appear at different moments
throughout the 20th Century.
