Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer
Aniston and Oprah Winfrey
with Apple CEO Tim Cook

Viewers can expect a tidal wave of
high-quality dramas, films and
comedy when Apple launches its
very own streaming service, Apple
TV+, in the UK later this year.
The tech giant is keeping details
under wraps for the time being, but
it’s expected to be a Netflix-style
ad-free subscription service that
will be available on most current
and future screens and devices.
Apple has spent a reported
$4billion on its new TV content
and has recruited some of the
biggest names in the business,
including Steven Spielberg and
JJ Abrams. Here, we look ahead to
some of the exciting programmes
coming our way...

THE MORNING SHOW
Jennifer Aniston, Steve Carell and
Reese Witherspoon will join forces
for a drama revolving around the
personal and professional lives
of presenters on a US morning
TV show. The series is set to be
a big break for British actress

Gugu Mbatha-Raw, who’s starred
in Black Mirror and played the sister
of Martha Jones in Doctor Who.

AMAZING STORIES
This fantasy anthology series is a
reboot of Steven Spielberg’s Emmy-
winning 1980s original, which
featured aliens, time travel, psychic
powers and haunted houses.
Spielberg is back on board
for the new big-budget
version that will feature
at least 10 episodes
and has been likened
to Black Mirror.

FOR ALL MANKIND
This sci-fi drama,
written by Outlander
showrunner Ronald D
Moore, explores what
might have happened if the
Soviet Union had beaten the
USA to put a man on the moon.
Joel Kinnaman, star of Amazon
Prime Video’s Hanna, and Alcatraz
actress Sarah Jones are in the cast.

TRUTH BE TOLD
The Help’s Oscar-winning actress
Octavia Spencer takes the lead in
this psychological thriller as Poppy
Parnell, a reporter on a hit podcast
who causes a media firestorm
when she investigates the case of
convicted murderer Warren Cave
(Breaking Bad’s Aaron Paul).

ON THE ROCKS
This movie reunites
Bill Murray with
Lost in Translation
director Sofia
Coppola. It’s a
comedy drama
about a young
mother, played
by Parks and
Recreation’s Rashida
Jones, who reconnects
with her larger-than-life playboy
father (Murray) in New York.

SEE
Peaky Blinders writer Steven Knight
is behind this intriguing drama set

in the near future when the human
race has lost the sense of sight due
to a terrifying virus. As society
struggles to adapt, the world is
turned upside down once more
when a set of twins with sight is
born. Frontier’s Jason Momoa,
who also played Khal Drogo in
Game of Thrones, heads the cast.

MY GLORY WAS I HAD
SUCH FRIENDS
JJ Abrams and Jennifer Garner, who
collaborated on spy series Alias, will
reunite for this drama based on a
2017 memoir by Amy Silverstein.
It follows a group of women who
supported Silverstein as she waited
for a life-saving heart transplant.

LITTLE AMERICA
Fresh off their indie movie hit
The Big Sick, husband-and-wife
team Kumail Nanjiani and Emily
V Gordon will co-write a new
half-hour anthology series about
immigrants, based on true stories
of everyday lives and struggles.

Oprah Winfrey has
t e a m e d u p w i t h P r i n c e
Harry to produce a
documentary series on
mental health, aimed at
equipping viewers with
the tools to ‘not simply
survive, but to thrive’.

Captain Marvel star Brie
Larson has signed a deal
for a series based on the
experiences of real-life
CIA undercover operative
Amaryllis Fox, told
through the prism of her
closest relationships.

Harry Potter star Rupert

Grint will star in Servant,
a psychological thriller
produced by M Night
Shyamalan (The Sixth
Sense). The series follows
a couple who hire a nanny
for their newborn baby.
