Bridget Jones’s Baby
Channel 5 HD, 9pm/Channel 5+1, 10pm 3

Sex OOO Violence OOO Language OOO

Back for her third turn as Helen Fielding’s irrepressible Bridget Jones, Renée

Zellweger proves as funny and endearing as ever. She does, however, have a
new predicament with which to wrestle in her inimitably cack-handed fashion:
pregnancy. And she doesn’t know who’s the daddy, with the prospective father

being either Patrick Dempsey’s smooth billionaire American Jack or Colin
Firth’s uptight, ill-at-ease Mark Darcy. It’s a slender plot, but director Sharon
Maguire makes the most of the gags. Also on Friday. 2016, 15, 123MIN

The name Lizzie Borden conjures up that
macabre rhyme about the axe and the
whacks. But did this young woman in

drama presents a shocking solution to
the mystery and boasts compelling turns
from Chloë Sevigny as Lizzie and Kristen
Stewart as the Irish immigrant maid who

DRAMA

Euphoria
Sky Drama HD, 2.15pm 3

Sex OOO Violence OOO Language OOO

Alicia Vikander and Eva Green give their
all as estranged sisters, struggling for
reconciliation in this elegant art-house
drama, although the film’s contrived
setup isn’t necessarily the best showcase
for their performances. The pair haven’t
seen each other in years when Green’s
terminally ill elder sister Emilie whisks
Vikander’s prickly artist Ines to a
luxurious euthanasia clinic-cum-hotel,
where she plans to end her life at the
end of six days. 2017, 15, 104MIN

COMEDY DRAMA

We Bought a Zoo
C4 HD, 2.25pm/C4+1, 3.25pm 3

Sex OOO Violence OOO Language OOO

The story of the English journalist who
bought a rundown zoo on the edge of
Dartmoor has been transported to
southern California and given a coating
of Hollywood gloss with this feelgood
movie starring Matt Damon and Scarlett
Johansson. The film remains an engaging
tale as Damon’s widower comes upon
the ideal new home for his two children,
which just happens to have a dilapidated
zoo attached, complete with Johansson’s
head keeper. 2011, PG, 124MIN

FANTASY ADVENTURE

Oz the Great and Powerful
BBC2 HD, 5pm 3
Sex OOO Violence OOO Language OOO

Director Sam Raimi brings dash and
dazzle to a tale that shows how the Land
of Oz originally gained its wizard, with
James Franco as the rascally circus
magician who gets whisked in a hot-air
balloon from 20th-century Kansas to
the wondrous and colourful Oz. While
Raimi’s fantasy can’t match the original’s
magic, its CGI wizardry provides its own
enchantments, including a delightful
recreation of the 1939 film’s vibrant
Technicolor. 2013, PG, 130MIN

A teenage boy (Percy Hynes-White) rides

in California. Along the way, he falls for

young adult novel. The story finds Asa
Butterfield’s teenager arriving at a Welsh

odd powers, presided over by Eva Green’s
pipe-smoking, crossbow-wielding,
shape-shifting Miss Peregrine. Also
