DESIGN MATTERS

Bridget Riley
Lovers of the Bargello design who enjoy clever piecing to achieve optical illusions in their quilts are
going to love this new exhibition of British artist Bridget Riley CBE’s work at the Scottish National
Gallery in Edinburgh. This retrospective exhibition,
spanning a career of 70 years, charts her exploration
of how the combination of colour, shape and pattern
can create dynamic art that play tricks with our
perception. A leader of the ‘Op Art’ movement,
Bridget Riley continues to produce innovative and
exciting work that is a great source of inspiration for
both contemporary and modern quilters.
