Cutting out
1
For the daisy petals, fold the fabric in
half RST, press, then draw the daisy
petals freehand on the WS and cut out
with sharp scissors. You can keep all
the daisy petals together in one piece
by cutting it out like a big octopus, seen
as dotted lines on Fig 1. Your daisies
can have as many petals as you like – Jo
made eleven (11) daisies and they had
approximately six to eight petals each.
Vary the sizes from large to small.
2
For the daisy centres, make a
cardboard template of a small
circle. You can draw this freehand or
you can make big circles by marking
around tape rolls and cups, and use
glue stick caps and 2p coins for smaller
ones. Alternatively, you can use a set
of compasses to make a precise size.
Trace the template onto the WS of the
daisy centre fabric and cut out fabric
in larger on all sides. Make one (1)
for each daisy.
3
From the border fabric, cut the
following strips lengthways:
Q One (1) 8 in x 60 in strip.
Q Tw o (2) 8 i n x 6 8 i n s t r i p s.
Q One (1) 8 in x 76 in strip.
4
From the binding fabric, cut
eight (8) 2in x WOF strips and
sew together to make a 320in long
continuous binding strip.*
Assembling the quilt
5
Lay the thirty-six (36) 10 in
squares out in a 6 x 6 grid in
your chosen arrangement. Sew them
together into rows pressing seams to
