Now in its fourth year, the 2019 BPOTY
competition received thousands of images
submitted by photographers from 63
countries around the world. Categories
included Best Portrait (for images that
capture the character and distinctive features
of individual birds), Garden and Urban Birds
(celebrating the joy that millions of us derive
from birds visiting our gardens), and Bird
Behaviour (for images that best depict the
unique aspects of bird behaviour, while
evoking an emotional response).
The overall winner will be announced on
