EVERYDAY ENGLISH 10/2019 Spotlight 55

  1. Well designed
Kate is explaining the advantages of an online course.

  2. How to go about it
Ben is talking to Kate about the type of online course he would like to do.

Kate: You know, you should take a
look at all the online courses
on offer. Maybe you’d find
something that would inspire
you to try something totally
different.
Ben: I hadn’t thought about doing
a course, but maybe it would
help me think about what I’d
like to do.
Kate: You can do almost anything.
I’m just doing a short course,

but they also have in-depth
programmes for professional
accreditation and they even
have whole degree courses.
The course I’m doing is
real ly well designed, I think.
The tutor explains things in
short videos, and you get a
task to complete afterwards.
And there’s even a forum for
exchanging ideas with other
students.

Ben: I’ve been thinking about do-
ing a screenwriting course for
ages. I hadn’t thought about
doing an online course. But
I can see that it would be con-
venient, and I could probably
start whenever I want to.
Kate: You could. Enrolling couldn’t
be easier.
Ben: Doing a course would force
me to make time for writing.

I know I would love to work in
the film industry. I just always
thought it was too hard to get
into.
Kate: Well, that’s probably true, but
it’s no reason not to try.
Ben: You’re right. Can you send me
a link to the website?
Kate: I’m doing it now.
Ben: Thanks! I can’t wait to get
started.
