tallyto18,889,accordingtoTruckIndustry
Council(TIC)T-Markfigures.
Thenumbersarehealthyif notquitethe
4,231and19,970respectivelyin2018,but
abovethelevelsofthepreviousboomyear
of2008,whichsaw3,671vehiclessoldin
Juneand18,218year-to-date.
ThefiguresarealsouponMay’s3,
andApril’s2,943afterMarch’s3,296and
February’s2,826.
Isuzucontinuestosteamaheadacross
allcategories,becomingthefirstmaker
tohitfourfiguresina monthlycycleand
increasingitsascendancyonthemarket.
Hinobrokeintothe 500 markforthefirst
time,breakinga runof400sforthepast
handfulofmonths.
Mercedes-Benzhada notablejumpinall
sectors,from 163 to 271 monthonmonth,
takingitstotalmarketsharefrom3.9per
centto4.5percentfortheyear.

HEAVYDUTY
Followingthegeneraltrend,heavy-duty
trucksenjoyedtheirmostprosperous
monthtodate,withJune’sfigureof1,
pippingMay’s1,212,andthetalliesof1,006,
1,186inthemonthsprior.
Again,it sitsbetween2018’s1,433and
2017’s1,250talliesforJune.
Thebignewsinthissegmentis that
Volvo’stiltatthetopcontinuestogather
pace,surpassingKenworthforthesecond
monthina row: 225 to 202 respectively.
It’sa closermarginthanthe 248 vs 206
inMay,buttheYTDgapcontinuesto
close,nowdownto 50 withKenworthon
1,154andVolvoon1,104,addinganother
fascinatingchaptertothisbattle.

Thefollowingpackallhadproductive
monthsbytheirstandards,withIsuzu’s
174,Mercedes-Benz’s 154 andMack’s 113
allconsiderablebumpsonlastmonth.
NotsogoodforScania,however,
droppingbacktounder 100 after
threemonthsoftriple-figuresales.

Medium-dutysalesreached796,up
onMay’s 734 butnearly 100 downon
2018’s895.
Bynow,YTD 2018 hadexceeded4,

    Still,in 2017 thisfigurewas3,321,andit all

June’s1,274wasa significantjumponMay’s
999,andnearlywentpound-to-poundwith
the1,304atthistimelastyear.
However,5,518somedistancefrom6,021,
andis closerto2017’stalliesof1,233forthe
monthand5,451YTD,butatleastthatgap
widenedslightly.
Thetopthreeallheldfirmtorecordyear’s
bestfigures,withIsuzunearlybreaking
the 500 markforthesecondtimeina row
inJune,butfallingjustshorton498,and
HinoandFusofollowingon 258 and 212
respectively.
Mercedes-Benzmaintaineditssurprising
growthin thiscategory,aftermorethan
doublingitsmonth-on-monthtotalthisyear
tohit 69 unitsinMay.It againnearlydoubled
up,hitting113.Compareit toJune2018’s 77
andit’sa roaringlight-dutyjump.
