June’stop 50 sales

IwasofferedaCrayfordCapri
recently, a 1600GT XLR that isin
need of restoration but essentially
sound and complete. I bid a cheeky
£1000 but the owner was looking
for £6500, which on reflection
is probably not unreasonable...
I can’t quite summon up the
enthusiasm, though. It’s not a bad
looking conversion, although Ihad
a feeling it might be worth more
if it wasn’t a Crayford.
Another car I was directed
towards this month was a beautiful
Alvis 3 Litre, which was available
for £25,000. It had £80,000 spent
on its restoration 30 years ago;
looking at the pre-restoration
photographs in its bulging history
file it was a nice car to start with.
