FERRARIS’ ROYAL DATE

Two more racing Ferraris have
joined the Concours of Elegance
line-up for 6-8 September: the
Ethiopian GP-winning 500
Mondial and the ex-Phil Hill/
Maurice Trintignant 290MM
(above), which was reborn as
a 250 Testa Rossa in 1959.

A record 474 Jaguars descended
on the National Motor Museum at
Beaulieu for Simply Jaguar on 14
July, making it the biggest yet.
The earliest models were two
SS saloons from 1936 and ’37,
while post-war XKs and D-type
replicas were also in attendance.
Mk2s were well represented in
their 60th-anniversary year, too.
Paul Baker won the People’s
Choice Award for the 1966 E-type
roadster he’s owned for two years.
“I’ve done loads to it,” he said. “It’s a
style icon and I always aspired to
have one.” Runners-up were Paul
Whitfield’s ’56 XK140 and Alastair
McIntyre’s 2016 F-type SVR.
