LIGHTWEIGHTTROLLEYJACK
OurtrustyClarkeworkshopjackhadoffered
morethan 20 years’service,sowedecided
to upgrade to the firm’s latest lightweight
aluminium racing version. Priced at £113.99
and designed to be used on lower classics, the
CTJ1250AB slides under chassis rails with ease,
while the lifting pad is sheathed in rubber to
prevent damage to the underside of your car.
The whole unit tips the scales at 11.65kg, which,
combined with the useful handles on each side,
makes lifting and moving it a breeze. It’s rated to
1.25 tonnes, enough for most small-to-medium
classics, while the hard-wearing metal castors
are positioned wide at each corner, making for
a secure lifting platform. Light, capable, well
put together and well priced. GM

There is a bright
LED on one side and,
although it is fitted
with a 3m cord and
85cm hose, the only
potential downside
is the 12V plug,
which limits its use
to negative-earth
vehicles with a
suitable socket. MP

Rolls-Royce and Bentley specialist
Flying Spares has stepped in to fill
a gap in the market left by Castrol’s
RR363 hydraulic fluid, which is
no longer available. The firm has
worked with a leading brake fluid
manufacturer for two years to
come up with its alternative.
Though adhering to the
original formula, Flying
Spares claims that its fluid
produces less rubber
swell and boasts a
higher boiling point. It’s
suitable for all 1965-’80
models, but not those
with plastic hydraulic
reservoirs such as the
Camargue. A 1-litre
bottle costs £17.94.

Threaded bolts and studs can easily become
damaged when working on a classic, whether
from smacking a knackered track-rod end
with a hammer, removing hubs, or even just
taking wheels on and off. Laser Tools has
come up with a simple device for repairing
threads that have taken a knock. It’s designed
to work with power drills at up to 400rpm
and features three blades, which cleanly cut
everything from hardened/stainless steels
to plastics. It fits 3-19mm studs and, as well
as correcting
squashed or
damaged
threads, can also
be used to chamfer
copper pipe. The
deburr tool (part no
7510) costs £25.92.
