inding workers for many businesses in regional NSW can be
difficult.
So it was good to see two local councils try to boost their status
to those living in Sydney of the benefits of moving west.
Bathurst Council held a Jobs Expo in which more than 60
exhibitors, employers and education/training providers were
available to meet first hand.
The popular event is for people who are seeking a career change,
looking for a job or wishing to learn new skills. It will enable them to
explore their options, ask for guidance and gain inspiration.
It’s vital that councils continue this work if they are to support their
local businesses.
Orange Council revealed that it hosted 15 sporting championships
during the last twelve months, at a cost of about $83,500.
They estimated that the flow-on impact to local businesses is worth
$5.2 million dollars.
And those businesses need employees to service the influx of
tourists.
Let’s hope that more and more councils continue to promote their
region and boost the local economy of regional NSW.
