CITIZENS CELEBRATE
Two Lithgow residents have become
Australia’s newest citizens as part of a
Naturalisation Ceremony in Lithgow.
The Council recently held a
Naturalisation Ceremony and welcomed
two new Australians to our area.
“On Thursday 27th June 2019, two
new Australians pledged their loyalty to
our Country and have taken an exciting
step in showing their commitment and
loyalty to this nation and the desire to
share a common future”, said Mayor Ray
Thompson.
“It was a real privilege to welcome these
people as Australian”.
“Our citizenship is something we
should all actively celebrate on Australia
Day or any day of the year, whether we
are Australian by birth or by choice,” Cr
Thompson said.
“On behalf of the Lithgow community I
welcome its newest citizens and wish them
well as they take this important and final
step to officially join the Australian family,”
concluded Mayor Thompson.


NAIDOC WEEK
A flag-raising ceremony has been held at
Lithgow County Council to mark NAIDOC
Week 2019.
The Mayor of Lithgow Councillor
Ray Thompson and representatives of
Mingaan Aboriginal Corporation raised
the Aboriginal flag outside the Lithgow
City Council chambers on Tuesday 9 July
to mark the nation-wide celebration of
NAIDOC Week.

SMART METERING
With the rollout of smart meters, the Council has
considered how to best assist residents with
water charges and billing. To help minimise costs
to residents, an increase in the residential water
usage tier has been implemented.
Following the June Ordinary Meeting of
Council, it was resolved that the residential water
usage Tier 1 be increased to 400kL. Council
adopted the 150kL increase from the previous
Tier 1 limit of 250kL to help minimize the
potential bill shock for residents. This will be in
effect for the period 1 July 2019 to 30 June 2020.
Additionally, it resolved that the access and
usage charges would remain at the 2018/19 rates
of $3.23 / kL for Tier 1 and $4.85 / kL for Tier 2.


LITHGOW ROADS
The NSW Minister for Regional Roads and
Transport, the Hon Paul Toole accepted
an invitation from Lithgow Mayor Ray
Thompson to join him on an inspection of
several Lithgow Roads in need of State
Government funding support.
“I was pleased to host Minister for
Regional Roads and Transport, Paul Toole
during our inspection last Thursday on a
number of roads within the Lithgow LGA

that need attention, andwasextremely
pleased that Mr Toolewasabletoattend
and see the difficultiespresentingfirst
hand,” said Mayor Cr RayThompson.
“Paul has been a strongadvocatefor
our community and in hiscapacityasNSW
regional Roads and TransportMinisteris in
a position to consider ourapproachesand
provide assistance whereheis able,”said
the Mayor.
