How did the band come together? We were bored and
unfulfilled by our respective music degrees, and had a
mutual love of making loud noises. How do you want people
to feel when they listen to your music? The ultimate goal of
music is to bring people together; to make us feel less alone.
I hope people feel like things they might not have been
able to express properly or process fully on their own are
manifested in what they hear and see from us. What does
your family think of your music? They LOVE it. My dad and
sister have been to all but three of our shows, and both my
parents know all the words to our songs. I often go to Mum
when I’m writing songs, particularly lyrics, because she has
such a great handle on language. I feel incredibly honoured
to have such a supportive family. What would you tell your
16-year-old self? You need to chill the fuck out. You’ll find
your place in the world, so stop being so hard on yourself.
What grinds your gears? This is going to sound really
snobby, but bad table manners and house etiquette. Take
care of your things and appreciate what you have. Who are
your favourite bands and musicians right now? Cry Club,
Sweater Curse, Mitski, Candy, Miss Blanks, Genesis Owusu,
A. Swayze & The Ghosts. A misconception about Canberra
is... that there’s nothing to do. Places are only as boring as
the people in them, and if you think Canberra is boring or
devoid of culture, then you’re just not with the right people
