need to consider a better turbo, other injectors,
and methanol.’ Remapping also gets results
- via either a Cobb access port/handheld tuner
or a Versatuner equivalent. J-Tunes, mapped
by MPS OC member Justin Heath, are still
regarded as one of the best and safest routes
to more power. Justin retired in November
2018 but CJ Performance will set up custom
software tunes. US specialists like Nishan,
Purple Drank and Hypnotic Tuning can also
provide maps. Harder rear diff mounts are
available from VIP Motorsport in the US.

‘I owned a base model 6 for
a while so in late 2015 I chose
to go a step further and buy
an MPS. It seemed like the
perfect all-rounder; an
affordable, relatively quick,
AWD family saloon. With only 1039 sold
in the UK it’s a rare car. In my ownership
the car has had a stainless exhaust,
alloys, intake, uprated fuel pump and a
custom tune, giving it a bit more punch
on the road. The car is expensive to run
though, with exorbitant road tax, high
maintenance needs and thirst for fuel. If
you have a disposable income, some
patience and a mechanic friend this car is
definitely worth consideration!’
