TheinstallationofanAmp’dthrottleboxcouldn’tbeanysimpler,withjustonemajorconnectionneedingtobemade.Mounteddirectlytothethrottlepedalunderthedash,youjustneed
todisconnectthefactorypedalharnessandpluginthesuppliedharnessintheEdgepackage.Oneendwillplugintothepedalandtheotherintothefactorywireharness.

Oncetheharnessis installed,you’llneedtoopentheAmp’dmoduletorevealthe
motherboard,whereyou’llfindthesettingswitch(stock,low,high)andthe‘Learn’pedal
button.Followingthestepsintheinstructionmanual,youmustsetthemoduletolearnthe
factorypedalvoltagemap.Oncecomplete,themodulecanbesnappedbacktogetherand
zip-tiedupunderthedash.

injectionsystem,a completelybrandnewturbochargerdesign,beefier
internals,bettercylinderheaddesigns,bettercoolingcapacity,and,of

answereveryChevroletandGMCfanwasafter.TheOEMengineerspulled
outallthestopsandreallyproducedsomethingspecialintheL5P,and
nowtwoyearsintotheirproduction,therearen’tmanyownersofL5P’s
you’llfindwithcomplaints.Thetrucksinteriorsarespoton,theavailable
technologymakeseverycreaturecomfortamazinglyniceandthatsix-
speedAllisontransmissionworksflawlessfortowing.Withallthatsaid,
ofcourse,we’dbehappytopointouta fewnit-pickyitemswiththeL5P.
One:deadpedal.Two:thatridiculousexhaustoutlet.

WhileGMengineershavedonea greatjobwiththeL5P,theyalsodid
theirabsolutebesttolockdownthatenginecontrolmoduletighterthan
FortKnox.Theyhavemadeit virtuallyimpossibletocrackintothatECM
andallowtheaftermarkettomodifythefuelmappingandreprogram
theengineforimprovedperformancelikesomanydieselownersare
