CHALLENGE 2019

 The truck to watch on the strip was the long, low 4x4 of Rudy’s Diesel, which has turned into a purpose-built drag truck. He would qualify second with a 5.50-second run at 130 mph.

Shawn Baca has had trouble at the drags in previous years with his “Shredder 2” Dodge, but this year a
switch back to a Randy’s Transmission Dodge slushbox as well as a single turbo (drag only) meant a lot more
manageable power.

Dylan Grooms’ 6.4L-powered Ford gave Diesel World Editor Adam
Blattenberg all the close-up action he was looking for as the truck got
squirrelly after some front-end death-wobble. The truck tagged the wall
pretty hard, but surprisingly the wheels and tires, which fortunately
stuck out beyond the body, were the only spots damaged.
