rodeTriumphmotorcyclestocomplete a
challenging1,850-kmexpedition.The Indian
ArmysoldiersstartedfromManaPass in
UttarakhandtoDrassWarMemorialin Kargil,
J&K.Thisisthe20thanniversaryofthe
KargilWar,a historiceventnotjustfor the
recaptureofpeaksbytheIndianArmy, but
alsooneofthefewinstancesofhigh-altitude
tacticalwarfareinhistory.The 13 JAK-RIF is
the unit Param Vir Chakra awardee Captain
Vikram Batra was a part of.
A 14-member team on nine motorcycles,
consisting of Triumph Bonnevilles and
Triumph Tigers, took about a month to
complete this epic ride. The journey started
in Mana village and covered various army
bases while also passing through Khardung
La before finally culminating at the Drass
War Memorial in a commemorative
ceremony in the presence of President Ram

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh from the War
Memorial in Delhi. Proud owners will join
the ride from different parts of the country,
which will culminate at Kargil to celebrate
Kargil Vijay Diwas with war heroes and the
