Sergi Canovas Garriga has been
Managing Director of India
Operations at Ducati Motor Holding
since July 2017, when he took over
from Ravi Avalur. Garriga has an
experience of 13 years in the
automotive industry and has
worked in several sales, marketing, and network development
positions in different regions. Since the beginning of his tenure,
he has brought a number of Ducati motorcycles to India such as
the Monster 797, Monster 821, Multistrada 950, and Multistrada

1200 Enduro along with their first four-cylinder V4 sport bike: the
Panigale V4.
With Garriga heading the firm, in the past year Ducati saw the
launch of their more capable Multistrada 1260, 1260S, and the
1260 Pikes Peak Edition in India. The Scrambler 1100 was also
added to Ducati India’s line-up soon thereafter.
The mental Hypermotard 950 and 950 SP were launched this
year in India, as a replacement for the Hypermotard 939. The
launch of the Diavel 1260 is awaited in India in the near future.
Garriga has also said that he sees Ducati India being featured
among Ducati’s top five global markets in the next four years.

Rudratej Singh has been
appointed as the new president
and CEO of BMW India effective
from 1 August 2019. He is a
graduate from the Delhi University
and also holds an MBA in
marketing and finance from the Institute of Management
Technology, Ghaziabad. Rudratej brings nearly 25 years of
management experience and has held multiple leadership
positions both in the automotive and non-automotive

industry. Rudratej has also been the Global President at Royal
Enfield and, prior to that, worked with Unilever in India and
international markets for over 16 years.
Rudratej’s predecessor, Vikram Pawah, was appointed as the
CEO of BMW Group Australia and New Zealand in August 2018.
Since then the acting president has been Dr Hans-Christian
Baertels who is the Director of Finance and Administration at
BMW Group India.
Rudratej has the potential to bring out BMW’s future growth
and development of the luxury automotive segment.

Benelli’s presence in India was on
the verge of extinction following
the DSK Group debacle. That is
when the Chinese-owned Italian
motorcycle brand decided to form
an alliance with Adishwar Auto
Ride India (AARI), a part of the
Mahavir Group. Vikas Jhabakh is
the young man at the helm who is expected to rejuvenate
Benelli’s innings in India. He holds an MBA from the Emory
University – Goizueta Business School and the University of
Warwick – Warwick Business School.

Shortly after Jhabakh took office, Benelli’s line-up in India
was reduced to just three motorcycles with the promise of as
many as seven new models in the pipeline. A few months later,
in addition to updated versions of the existing models, Benelli
also launched their first adventure-tourer motorcycles in India:
the TRK duo. There are also reports about the Leoncino being
launched in the near future. In an interview, Jhabakh told us
that he intended to improve the motorcycle culture
surrounding Benelli as a whole so that people would want to
buy into the Benelli experience instead of just a motorcycle.
With this kind of forward thinking, it looks like Benelli’s future in
India is in the right hands.
