‘ScoMo’ lends a hand
Prime Minister Scott Morrison braved the wintry
conditions to cheer on the Sharks last week, and
his support paid off as they stormed home to pick
up a crucial win. After the game, the PM was invited
into the sheds where he pounded the esky with
great vigour during the team song. The NRL Physio
posted on Twitter that Mr Morrison had suffered
a hand injury and was unlikely to return to esky
hitting for the next 2-4 weeks. Hopefully the PM’s
office will release a detailed casualty ward update.

Future in limbo for O’Neill
The extent of Cowboys Justin O’Neill’s injury has
been revealed. Sustained in Round 11 against the
Raiders, O’Neill finished the game with two broken
ribs that had ruptured his spleen, causing internal
bleeding. He was rushed to hospital the next day
and was told by surgeons he was lucky to be alive
after losing two-thirds of his blood. He had to stay
in Canberra for an extended period before flying
back to Townsville, where he underwent another
operation. He’s back to light duties at the club but
it’s still unknown when or if he’ll be able to return
to the field. We wish him a speedy recovery.
