When graphic designer
Luis Bueno stumbled
across the image of Pele
embracing Muhammad
Ali before O Rei’s final
professional football
match in 1977, the artist
thought, ‘Why limit it to
just one photo?’ Luis first
experimented on Sao
Paulo’s streets and later
adopted the paste-ups
as his artistic language.
Pele the Kisser, as the
series has been named,
has the icon cosying up
to everyone from Amy
Winehouse and Batman
to John Lennon and

Summer’s here, so it’s

from Nike absolutely
screams Summertime,
as if DJ Jazzy Jeff & The
Fresh Prince themselves
were endorsing them.
They also bear a striking
resemblance to some
sort of Jorge Campos
throwback strip, which
has evolved into a pair of
trainers. Much like those
’90s monstrosities, these
will divide opinion, but
we are all over them.
