When was the club founded?
The club was founded nearly 75 years ago in
1945, which makes it one of the oldest – as
well as one of the largest – in North Wales. At
the moment we have around 80 members in
the club.
Tell us more about what your club offers to
new members.
New and prospective members are very
welcome and are able to attend a couple of
evenings free of charge before committing to
taking out membership. Our members have a
wide range of interests, experience and
expertise who are always willing to help
members to improve their work and explore
new techniques.
Can you tell us what happens during a
typical club meeting?
We meet every Tuesday evening at 7.30pmat
Y Morfa Venue in Conwy from Septemberto
May. Usually, our meetings include talks on
specialist subjects by guest speakers andwe
also have throughout the year ten competitions
judged by external judges. The club has a
friendly and social atmosphere and we enjoy
in-house evenings when members discuss
their photography or they can join in light-
hearted competitions.
Do your members compete in regionalor
national competitions?
Yes, several of our members compete in
international competitions and they have
enjoyed considerable success in recent years.
Additionally, some of our members also hold
photographic qualifications from the PAGB,
WPF and RPS.
Are there any upcoming residential trips
or outings planned?
Our weekly meetings are supplemented by
meetings of special interest groups which
cover several branches of photography as
well as providing help and encouragementto
the less-experienced photographers thatwe
have among our number.
We think of ourselves as being particularly
fortunate to live in one of the most beautiful
and historic areas of the country and our
summer programme of outings is designedto
take full advantage of the photographic
opportunities.
