Use a pencil to mark a diagonal
line on wrong side of each
cream print 3^7 ⁄ 8 " square.

Layer a marked cream print
square atop a brown print
3 7 ⁄ 8 " square. Sew together with two
seams, stitching^1 ⁄ 4 " on each side
of marked line (Diagram 6). Cut
pair apart on marked line; press
open to make two triangle-squares.
Each triangle-square should be
3 1 ⁄ 2 " square including seam
allowances. Repeat to make 16
triangle-squares total.

Referring to Diagram 7, sew

together a brown print 2× 2 1 ⁄ 2 "

rectangle and a cream-and-red

plaid 2× 2 1 ⁄ 2 " rectangle to make a

rectangle unit. The unit should be

31 ⁄ 2 × 2 1 ⁄ 2 " including seam allowances.

Repeat to make 16 rectangle

units total.

out four triangle-squares, four
