Referring to Diagram 9, sew

together a brown stripe 2^1 ⁄ 2 ×11"

rectangle and a remaining cream-and-

red plaid 2× 2 1 ⁄ 2 " rectangle to make

a sashing unit. The unit should be

2 1 ⁄ 2 × 12 1 ⁄ 2 " including seam allowances.

Repeat to make 16 sashing units total.

Referring to Quilt Assembly

Diagram, lay out House blocks,

sashing units, cream-and-brown plaid

2 1 ⁄ 2 × 12 1 ⁄ 2 " sashing strips, cream print

2 1 ⁄ 2 " sashing squares, and remaining

brown print 2^1 ⁄ 2 " squares in nine rows.

Sew together pieces in rows. Press

seams toward sashing strips. Join

rows to make quilt center. Press seams

toward sashing rows. The quilt center

should be 58^1 ⁄ 2 " square including seam

allowances.
