CUT FABRICS


Cut pieces in the following order.

From assorted gray prints, cut:
▫ 94—5" squares
▫ 216—2^3 ⁄ 4 " squares
▫ 360—1^3 ⁄ 4 " squares (90 sets of
4 matching squares)
From assorted blue prints, cut:
▫ 90—5" squares
▫ 108—2^3 ⁄ 4 ×5" rectangles
▫ 360—1^3 ⁄ 4 " squares (90 sets of
4 matching squares)
From blue dot, cut:
▫ Enough 2^1 ⁄ 2 "-wide bias strips to
total 300" in length for binding.

ASSEMBLE BLOCKS
Measurements include^1 ⁄ 4 " seam
allowances. Sew with right sides
together unless otherwise stated.
Press seams in directions indicated
by arrows on diagrams. If no direction
is specified, press seam toward darker
fabric.

MATERIALS


Yardages and cutting
instructions are based on
42" of usable fabric width.

▫ 41 ⁄ 2 yards total assorted
gray prints (blocks, border)
▫ 41 ⁄ 2 yards total assorted
blue prints (blocks, border)
▫ 3 ⁄ 4 yard blue dot (binding)
▫ 4 3 ⁄ 4 yards backing fabric
▫ 72 ×85" batting

Use a pencil to mark a diagonal
line on wrong side of each gray
print and blue print 1^3 ⁄ 4 " square.

Align a marked gray print square
with one corner of a blue print
5" square (Diagram 1; note direction
of drawn line). Sew on marked line;
trim excess fabric, leaving^1 ⁄ 4 " seam
allowance. Press open attached
triangle. In same manner, add
marked matching gray print squares
to remaining corners of blue print
square to make a blue Snowball block.
The block still should be 5" square
including seam allowances.

Repeat Step 2 to make 90 blue
Snowball blocks total.
