Using marked blue print 1^3 ∕ 4 "
squares and gray print 5" squares,
repeat Step 2 to make 90 gray
Snowball blocks (Diagram 2).

ASSEMBLE QUILT CENTER

Referring to Quilt Assembly
Diagram, page 52, alternate blue
and gray Snowball blocks in 15 rows.
Sew together blocks in rows. Press
seams in one direction, alternating
direction with each row.

Join rows to make quilt center.
Press seams in one direction.
The quilt center should be 54^1 ∕ 2 ×68"
including seam allowances.

ASSEMBLE AND ADD BORDERS

Use a pencil to mark a diagonal
line on wrong side of each gray
print 2^3 ∕ 4 " square.

Align a marked gray print square
with one end of a blue print 2^3 ∕ 4 ×5"
rectangle (Diagram 3; note direction
of marked line). Sew on marked line.
Trim excess fabric, leaving a^1 ∕ 4 " seam
allowance. Press open attached
triangle. Add a matching gray print
square to opposite end of rectangle;
trim and press to make a Flying Geese
unit. The unit still should be 2^3 ∕ 4 ×5"
including seam allowances.

Repeat Step 2 to make 108 Flying
Geese units total.

To bind curves,
cut your binding
strips on the
bias. Straight-
grain strips won't
have the bend
and give that
the bias strips
have.
