How you’re making a difference
In 2009, Jeanne Scott started Common Thread Pillowcases after learning
that many HIV/AIDS patients are often deserted by friends and family
members. In 2013, Common Thread became a ministry of Pine Valley
United Methodist Church in Wilmington, North Carolina, where they
established a permanent sewing room. To date, Common Thread has
distributed more than 7,800 pillowcases to terminally ill hospice and AIDS
patients as well as homebound hospice patients. Common Thread has
gotten countless thank-you notes from family members and others who
received the pillowcase on which a loved one last rested his or her head.
