RYAN EDWARDS admits
that Blackpool can only
improve – despite making
it three wins from three.
The defender said: “It’s
the worst we’ve played
so far. It wasn’t pretty
and it wasn’t our normal
quick, slick football.
“But you’ve got to find
different ways to win
matches and we did that.”
Edwards and Armand
Gnanduillet’s penalty put
Pool ahead, with Oxford’s
Josh Ruffels replying.

DANNY COWLEY has
warned his Lincoln
players not to get carried
away following a perfect
start after promotion.
Goals from Jason
Shackell, Harry Toffolo,
Tyler Walker and Bruno
Andrade hit Southend
and made it three wins
from three games.
And Imps boss Cowley
said: “What was good
about the group last year
was that we never got
ahead of ourselves.”

MARK ROBINS says
tomorrow’s trip to
Portsmouth will be a true
test of Coventry’s
progress this season.
The Sky Blues have yet
to concede this season
and wrapped up
Saturday’s win with goals
from Jordan Shipley and
Gervane Kastaneer.
Robins (left) said: “We
want to be up there with
Portsmouth and we’ve
got to go down there and
see where we are at.”

DAVID WHEELER was
relieved by the welcome
he received from MK
Dons fans – despite
netting the late winner.
The midfielder, 28,
helped MK to promotion
last season before
switching to Wycombe.
He said: “It’s easy to
boo someone, but
whenever I was near
them warming up they
gave me a good
reception, which I was
really flattered by.”

SEAN GOSS made his
Shrewsbury debut after
just one training session.
The former QPR
midfielder, 23, had been
training alone before
signing for the Shrews.
He said: “It’s brilliant to
be back out there.
“I had my first session
with the lads yesterday,
so to come straight in it’s
always going to be tough.
“This is a perfect
opportunity to come and
do well for the club.”

JOHN COLEMAN is
expecting big things of
strike-duo Courtney
Baker-Richardson and
Colby Bishop this term.
The Accrington boss
said: “Those two get
better every game. It’s
looking promising.”
Bishop was set up by
Baker-Richardson to
level after Luke O’Neill’s
cross was deflected to
put Wimbledon ahead.
Accrington had Zaine
Francis-Angol sent off.

DARREN MOORE
believes Doncaster have
laid down a marker.
The Rovers boss said:
“We’ve got a new team
trying to do what is
being asked of them.”
A late own-goal by
Fleetwood’s Wes Burns
settled the clash after
Doncaster’s Cameron
John and James
Coppinger scored.
Conor McAleny and
Paddy Madden netted
for Joey Barton’s men.

MORGAN FERRIER
said nothing should
detract from Tranmere’s
five-goal haul.
Rovers striker Ferrier
struck twice against
Phil Parkinson’s
collection of kids.
He said: “You can’t
take anything away
from the team, we were
clinical, and we are
delighted.”
Ollie Banks, Connor
Jennings and Stefan
Payne also netted.

JAKE BUXTON admits
that nothing is going
Burton’s way right now.
The Brewers skipper
was left frustrated after
his side were left empty-
handed when a shot
from Rotherham’s Ben
Wiles bounced in off
keeper Kieran O’Hara.
Buxton said: ”Two
weeks ago we conceded
against Ipswich with a
deflection – we need a
little bit of lady luck in
both boxes.”

GWION EDWARDS is
backing Ipswich skipper
Luke Chambers to add
to his goal-haul.
Chambers scored a
late header after Posh
pair Ivan Toney and Mo
Eisa overturned James
Norwood’s opener.
Winger Edwards said:
“We’re buzzing for skip.
He’s always been a
threat in the box. He’s
done that throughout
his career. That could be
a big point come May.”

THE HUNGER

GAINS

got a manager who believes in me.”
Potters boss Nathan Jones reacted
to this draw with a furious
emotional outburst, conceding it
could have been even worse had
Derby’s Martyn Waghorn not
missed a glorious chance to win
the game and complete his hat-
trick.
Waghorn admitted: “I’ve over-
thought it. The opportunity was
there just to place it in the far
corner. I need to be a bit more
ruthless and clinical.”
As for Jones’ outburst, Hogan
said: “He can shout, scream, laugh,
talk but his intentions are
everything you would want from a
manager. He puts his heart and
soul into it.”

and I needed a fresh start. I’ve
known ‘Greggs’ a long time and
we’ve come through the ranks.
“We’ve both worked our way up
the hard way. Maybe it gives us a
bit of a connection with the fans
because we’ve both come from
scraping the barrel and working.
“I had all sorts of jobs. Cleaning
toilets, factory working, flipping
tyres onto belts. I had everything
you could think of, but I think
‘Greggs’ was an electrician.”
They looked bright sparks on
Saturday with Gregory setting up
Hogan for a second-half goal
(above, celebrating with Tom Ince).
Hogan is also claiming a second,
credited to Liam Lindsay.
“It’s mine. The ball has come
over and he’s headed it, it’s hit me
on the face and gone on in,’’ he
said. Hogan re-ignited his passion
for the sport with a stint at
Sheffield United and is determined
to prove people wrong.
He added: “I’ve been written off
by a lot of people who don’t think
I’m this and don’t think I’m that,
that I’m a waste of money but I’ve

BY JANINE SELF
SCOTT HOGAN has gone back
to his roots and rediscovered
his passion for football.
The on-loan Stoke striker is
playing alongside former Halifax
team-mate Lee Gregory and is out
to prove he is no write-off.
Hogan admits he was a flop at
parent club Aston Villa, whom he
joined in 2017, and it was all his
fault.
He said: “I’m maybe guilty of
losing a bit of hunger when I got
my move to Villa and all that went
with it.
“My confidence got knocked. I
had a couple of injuries. It wasn’t
going well. I just didn’t fit in at
Villa. I tried everything over the
two years I was there. Sometimes
you’ve got to hold your hands up
